APPEAL FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT

  • In the last 2 years, Haadibadi Community Library has been able to bring Open & Free Library to about 700 students from the most marginalized communities.
  • Has set up Library in 3 neighbourhood schools including a government school and support them with resources and Library sessions.
  • The Library closed briefly due to the COVID Pandemic. To address our members need, online reading & mental health sessions started and Online Library work initiated.
  • Haadibadi Community Library reopened in October with all the safety protocols in place.
  • English Conversation, Computer Literacy, Educational Counseling, Performance Arts like Dance, Theatre are provided.
  • Computers with Internet access for the online classes are provided at Library and internet recharge on phones for members with financial distress.
  • Haadibadi is now developing a Digital Library to make the copyrights free content made accessible online with a special focus on resources in Kannada. The aim is to make Free Digital Library accessible for free to all.

However, with schools still closed, the space gains so much more significance, especially the girls. The Library suffered huge damage during the last rains damaging many books, making it difficult to use the space. Temporary arrangements are made to keep the Library open and running. However there is a need to ensure we continue to provide the best space and resources. There is also a need for computers/laptops/tablets with internet connection making it possible for the members with no access to these for classes, especially for those in 2nd PUC and SSLC.
Since its inception Haadiabdi Community Library has raised funds through public appeals and donors believing in our cause and goals. Till now Haadibadi has raised funds through generous funding from Donors and Friends of Haadibadi annually but given the need for rebuilding the space, expansion of its activities, it requires a steady source for funding. We are now trying to reach out to the larger community through Friends of Haadibadi Initiative for small but regular financial contributions as part of developing a sustainable financial model.
To run the Community Library, support our members learning and make their online classes (College and School) possible and now Digital Library we require at least 500 supporters to become Friends of Haadibadi with a commitment to contribute minimum 200 Rs per month for one year.

  • We welcome donations of books (old and new), magazines, and stationeries for children.

  • New/Used Computers and Internet Services:

    To break the technological barrier, we wish to setup computers with strong internet connections that help children explore the online world and also enable them to attend online classes, post-lockdown.

    We are looking for donation/sponsor of laptops/desktops which are in good working condition.

    We appreciate sponsorship of 1 year or 6 months subscription of internet services.


  • Newspaper and Magazine subscriptions:

    A good library also requires availability of current issues of magazines and newspapers to keep the children engaged and updated.

    We will be glad to receive sponsorship to any of the following subscriptions:

    • Kannada Magazines: Balamangala, Champaka
    • English Magazines: Tinkle, Wisdom, Bagic Bus
    • Newspapers: The Hindu & Prajavani

  • Books

    We take pride in having collected few interesting sets of books for all ages within a year of starting the library. Currently, we have over 3000 books in hard copy and about 5000 books in PDF and e-books format. We look forward to continuously increase our collection.

    You can either donate used books (in good condition) or donate new books of your choice to our library which will be always valuable. Here is a list of books we are looking for at the moment.

    We require notebooks which are given to the students who apply for our free coaching classes for 10th standard board exams.
